“Ciao Baby” was the cry heard on the Italian mountains when 30 students and 4 teachers from Mulroy College, Milford, took to the ski slopes of “Fai Della Pagnella” in the Trentino district of Italy during the February Mid – term break.
Setting off from Milford at midnight on Thursday 13th February no one could imagine the fun filled week ahead!
Day one on the slopes was a bumpy affair with almost everyone losing their footing. The thought of coming down the baby slope – standing up – seemed impossible! However two hourly ski lessons each morning by the vibrant Italian Instructors had everyone feeling confident along with the mugs of piping hot chocolate.
Aimee Gorney, a third year student said that for her the best part of the holiday was when the ski lessons were finished and you got a chance to go skiing with all your friends.
By Day 5 the Mulroy College students had mastered many blue and red slopes, the days weren’t long enough to fit in all the skiing.
Patrick Mc Closkey, third year student couldn’t believe the skill he had learned at the end of the week. “All of it was class but the best skiing part was going down the slope that was almost 1500 meters high with our mad ski instructor Luca.”
The activity didn’t stop there, evening entertainment included swimming, karaoke night, ice skating and karting. Eimear Mc Conigley , a third year student said she enjoyed everything from the skiing to the evening activities. “The craic was great, it was an amazing experience and one I hope to get again, thanks to all our teachers at Mulroy!”
