Mulroy College hosted it’s first career fair last Wednesday when 16 guest speakers came into the college to present to 6th year students. Each student had the opportunity to attend four presentations that they were interested in. The presentations lasted approx 30 mins and concluded with question and answer sessions.
The fair was organised by the career guidance counsellor Ms Catherine Crawford, “students hear so much from the third level colleges about the courses available to them. Quite often the question for students is what will they do after college. I wanted my students to have the opportunity to hear first hand what is needed and expected of them in various careers”. The career fair allowed students the opportunity to listen to successful, experienced professionals and get their questions answered. Students really benefited from the event . We are extremely grateful to all of our guest speakers for taking the time out of their busy day to advise 6th years students on possible careers.
Students had the opportunity to evaluate the careers fair and the feedback was extremely positive. One student stated that from listening to the presentations she got “great courage to do her best to achieve her goals. The presentations were described as interesting, informative and inspirational.
