Junior Cycle Curriculum

The Framework for Junior Cycle, provides the basis for post-primary schools to plan quality, inclusive and relevant education programmes with improved learning experiences for all students, including those with special educational needs.

The 24 statements of learning, underpinned by the eight principles, provide the basis for schools to plan for, design and evaluate their junior cycle programmes.

Schools will ensure that all statements of learning, alongside the key skills feature in the programmes of all junior cycle students.

Wellbeing is a new area of learning in junior cycle.  The Wellbeing Guidelines provide schools with support for planning a junior cycle Wellbeing programme.

In Mulroy College we offer a broad and balanced curriculum with plenty of choice. The curriculum is divided into core subjects and option subjects . All subjects are now part og the New Junior Cycle. All ability levels are catered for.

In addition to sitting the Junior Certificate, some students follow the JCSP programme and are given extra supports in Literacy and Numeracy. They benefit from practical project work, personal reading as well as other literacy and numeracy based activities. These students receive accreditation from the Department of Education and Skills for their achievements over the three years of study
