Wellbeing

Mulroy College embodies mutual respect in a caring environment while enabling students to achieve personal success and move with confidence into a world of endless possibilities.

Student wellbeing is present when a student realises their potential, is resilient in dealing with the normal stresses of their life, takes care of their physical wellbeing and has a sense of purpose, connection and belonging to a wider community.

Wellbeing is part of The Junior Cycle reform which is well under way in Mulroy College. It currently has 400 hours embedded into our curriculum for first and second year and third years of the Junior Cycle. The aim of the programme is to build on the substantial work that is already happening in Mulroy College in support of students’ wellbeing. It will include learning opportunities to enhance the physical, mental, emotional and social wellbeing of students. It will enable students to build life skills and develop a strong sense of connectedness to their school and to their community.

Wellbeing extends beyond looking at the needs of our students, ensuring that the wellbeing of staff and stakeholders of the school are also catered for as per LOOKING AT OUR SCHOOL 2022 – A Quality Framework for Post-Primary Schools

Our Wellbeing Plan aims to:

  • To build on the substantial work that is already taking place in Mulroy College in supporting the wellbeing of students, staff and guardians.
  • To provide a framework for the delivery of the school’s wellbeing programme over the 3 years of Junior Cycle and in the senior cycle.
  • To ensure 400 hours of Wellbeing is sufficiently implemented in the school year.
  • To aid students develop to their full potential, encouraging them to build life skills and develop a strong sense of connectedness to their school and to their community.
  • The plan is inclusive of the needs of all students, and will include all Wellbeing activities, making the school’s culture and ethos and commitment to wellbeing visible to students.
  • It will include learning opportunities to enhance the physical, mental, emotional and social wellbeing of students.
  • To support the Wellbeing team in working towards the implementation of the: Wellbeing Policy Statement and Framework for Practice 2018–2023
