A Brief History of Mulroy College

Mulroy College has been in existence since the early 1950s as Milford Vocational School. At that time day classes were run and students sat the Group and Intermediate Certificate examinations. The high standard of results achieved in those days of up to 96% still exists to this day. The developments in the school and indeed in education have been huge since then. The school has relocated twice. Its original classrooms were in the Courthouse in Milford and from there moved to a four roomed building at the bottom of the town. Many adjustments were made to the building and many prefabs were added on site until Mulroy College was established in 2000. The school moved finally to a state of the art building with matching facilities.

The school welcomed a modular build in November 2023 that accommodates 7 classrooms, 3 SET rooms and one library.

The school now facilitates all abilities of students and provides all programmes from the DES. At Junior Cert the Junior Cycle will replace the established Junior Certificate Programme in 2022 and run in tandem with the Junior Cycle schools programme. The Transition year Programme, the Leaving Certificate established programme and the Leaving Certificate Applied Programme are all on offer at Senior Cycle.

Mixed ability grouping is provided for all year groups with banding in English, Irish and Maths only. Students are encouraged to enter subjects at the highest possible level and are pushed to reach their full potential.

Our catchment area encompasses both the Rosguill and Fanad peninsula, Rathmullan and Ramelton townland and surrounding areas. We have 20 feeder primary schools.
