We are thrilled to announce that Arthur Korpe, a first-year student at Mulroy College, has achieved an outstanding victory in the Junior section of the Donegal Post-Primary Schools Chess Championship.
Held earlier this month in St. Columba’s College in Stranorlar, the championship brought together talented young players from across the county, each demonstrating strategy, focus, and mental agility. Among strong competition, Arthur stood out for his calm demeanour and impressive tactical play, going undefeated throughout the tournament to claim the Junior title.
Arthur, who only joined the school in September, has already made a name for himself within the school chess club. His coach describes him as a thoughtful and dedicated player, always eager to learn and improve. “Arthur approaches the game with a quiet confidence and a genuine love for the challenge,” said his club mentor. “This win is a reflection of the hard work he’s put in.”
Arthur’s victory marks a proud moment for our school, and we look forward to seeing what he accomplishes next—both on and off the chessboard.
Congratulations, Arthur!
