Shane Burke and Danny McGinley, from Mulroy College are receiving an award at the National Final of NFTE at The Helix, DCU, Dublin this week.

NFTE (Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship) ( is an International non-profit organisation with almost 20 years experience of teaching entrepreneurship skills to young people. NFTE students are required to develop a business during the year and present it as part of the Youth Entrepreneurship Awards which took place at LYIT on 26 March 2013.

Shane Burke will be presented with a merit of achievement after impressing the judges at LYIT for his business initiative ‘Rubber Bandits’ which is an anti-bullying wristband. Danny McGinley will be receiving a certificate for completing a business plan.

Ms Fiona Temple, Principal stated “We are very proud of the boy’s achievements and wish them well in the Helix for their Awards. Entrepreneurship is a key area in education and the skills these boys have developed over the project are skills that are needed in so many areas of life. I have no doubt this success will lead to further achievements in years to come for them.”
